Niels Bohr Professors 2011

About the program

The Niels Bohr Professorship Program seeks to attract strong, international, senior-level researchers who are able to significantly advance Danish research through the internationalization of a specific area of research in Denmark with lasting, long-term effects.

The board of the DNRF has in its current strategy decided to announce this new Niels Bohr Professorship program in order to continue strengthening the internationalization of Danish research. The program is inspired by the previous Niels Bohr Visiting Professorship program and the DNRF Professorships, announced in 2005 and 2006. The 2011 program is slightly revised, among others allowing larger flexibility in terms of how a Niels Bohr Professorship can be organized.

The Niels Bohr professor must have a high standing in the international research community, acting as a the Niels Bohr professor must act as a catalyst, supporting a strong scientific cohesiveness, and demonstrate scientific/scholarly leadership. The DNRF welcomes proposals for research programs characterized by novelty, creativity and excellence. It is expected, that the organizational structure of the Niels Bohr Professorship is carefully considered in terms of meeting the objectives of the program.
